The role of the Medical Educator
A medical educator (ME) is an experienced General Practitioner (GP) who has a broad understanding of the context of General Practice, which can be combined with clinical and educational expertise. The aforementioned skill set allows MEs to effectively and efficiently lead future generations of GPs safely through training, enabling high quality patient care in a variety of locations and scenarios across Australia. This ability to take a big picture view and understand the subsequent consequences of change on various facets of GP Training puts MEs in an ideal and unique position to play a lead role in the development and delivery of all future General Practice training.
